Buttermilk Scone Box

Cream tea, sorted. Six tall, golden buttermilk scones — four plain, two sultana — baked on the morning of dispatch and packed with a pot of proper strawberry jam so you're most of the way to afternoon tea when the box arrives.

Buttermilk keeps the crumb soft and gives that gentle tang a good scone needs. All that's left is the clotted cream and the age-old jam-first-or-cream-first debate (we stay neutral, mostly).

Scones are best on the day they arrive, warmed for five minutes in a low oven. They freeze very well: freeze on arrival and refresh in the oven from frozen.
